ThermoTeam is a joint venture between Saubermacher AG and Holcim and has been a pioneer in sustainable waste recycling for over 20 years. Our state-of-the-art plant in Retznei, southern Styria, converts non-recyclable, energy-rich waste into high-quality substitute fuels and thus actively contributes to climate protection and resource conservation.<\/p>\n

ThermoTeam is a pioneer in the production of refuse-derived fuels (RDF), which are obtained from non-recyclable, energy-rich waste. Our state-of-the-art plant in southern Styria produces around 100,000 tonnes of high-quality RDF every year. These fuels replace fossil alternatives and support industries such as the cement and paper sectors on their way to a circular economy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Since our joint venture was founded in 2002, we have made an important contribution to climate protection by replacing fossil fuels with alternative fuels. Among other things, this has enabled us to reduce our consumption of 1.4 million tons of hard coal. At the same time, we promote recycling: every year, around 2,500 tons of recyclable materials such as scrap metal are sorted out and sent for further recycling.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Tailor-made fuel<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>

The input for our substitute fuels includes separately collected production waste, non-recyclable plastics and pre-treated waste fractions. These are carefully prepared using a multi-stage technical process – including NIR sorting machines, magnetic separators and air separators. The result: high-quality fuels that meet our customers’ requirements.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
